Stick with your knitting — let Mrs Tradie handle the admin

Shaun Rabbage, of Shaun Rabbage Builders in Canterbury, had faced the recurring challenge of administrative staff turnover. Each time an admin staff member left, he found himself burdened with the admin work, disrupting his focus on the business. After hearing about Mrs Tradie on the radio, he decided to give their services a try and found it to be the perfect solution.
“Employing the admin staff in the past, it was a hassle every time they left,” Shaun says. “I ended up trying to do all the admin and then still had to train someone new. With Mrs Tradie, I never have to train another admin person again.”
The Mrs Tradie team took over essential tasks such as managing Xero accounts, bank reconciliations, bill payments, and health and safety compliance. They also handled quotes efficiently. “They got our Xero back on track, and now I can trust the figures and know our cash flow status daily. It helps me sleep at night, knowing it’s done right,” Shaun adds.
One of the stand-out benefits for Shaun has been the excellent communication with the Mrs Tradie team. “I’m in and out of the office and on building sites, so being able to easily reach someone is essential. They’re always available when I need them.”
As the construction environment changes and the business grows, he appreciates that Mrs Tradie can scale with him by taking on more responsibilities and support as the business takes on more projects. “They can grow with us, which is great for a business owner.” Shaun’s advice for other builders — “we’re tradies, and we’re good at what we do. “We started out with Max, and Mrs Tradie Office Lady, about four years ago, after my accountant introduced them to us. In the past I have not enjoyed having a full-time admin person in the office, as I was always too busy to train them — and just ended up giving them worthless tasks to do.
Max’s team just picked things up, gently taking everything off my plate, and they have now taken over most admin aspects of the business. I now feel like I not only have my own admin person, but I feel as though I have my own PA who offers to do things for me when she sees I have not sorted certain things.
On top of that they are highly trained and skilled. They are doing all the admin within my Project Management App — SimPro — and manage all the admin for our Health & Safety, and ensure we have all the certifications we need on an annual basis.
